LulzSec returns to hack... hackers???

LulzSec came back to life with a recent hack against UK tabloid The Sun. Why hack a UK tabloid, to get some lulz against Rupert Murdoch.

For those not familiar with the case (ie. living under a rock), Rupert Murdoch is in court over allegations that his tabloid hacked the phones of various celebrities, criminals, and even allegations that they attempted to hack the phones of the family members of victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York. The hackers created their own front page story titled, "Media moguls body discovered."

This was followed up by "Sun/news of the world owned" being tweeted by @anonymoussabu. They also let their followers know that approximately 4 gb's of emails were compromised and to expect a press release in the near future....

LulzSec then announced they will hold onto the data to keep from compromising the court case against News of the World, but will be allowing select media outlets to view some of the compromised emails...

No mention has been made as to who will gain access to the emails..

Tier III- can't wait to see what's been compromised..

  2. Thanks for the insight... I'm sure my readers like hearing how this stuff is done. As I've said before, I'm not a hacker, just a tech who is interested. Any releases from this hack would be pretty cool to have on Tier III though..
